The White Road

In production

In the spirit of Guillaume Sylvestre’s documentaries, The White Road is a captivating Arctic road movie that follows from January to March, the human experience centered around a mythical winter road on the verge of disappearing. The film traces the anticipation for the road to form in winter, all the way through to its closure in the spring—a journey as breathtaking as it is perilous. Set in the heart of Quebec’s Lower North Shore, it paints a portrait of the isolated communities connected by the White Road—Indigenous, Francophone, and Anglophone—brought together by winter, celebration, and a fierce sense of freedom.

But this century-old tradition is under threat: melting ice endangers the very existence of the White Road. By documenting its anticipated disappearance, the film captures a fading collective memory—of a harsh land imbued with rare and precious human warmth.
